What is permanent cosmetic makeup?
Permanent cosmetic makeup is a state of the art form of cosmetic tattooing. The specialized techniques used for permanent cosmetics are often referred to as “micro pigmentation”, “micro pigment implantation” or “dermagraphics”. The cosmetic implantation technique deposits tiny individual implants of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin.
How are permanent makeup preformed?
Permanent makeup cosmetic procedures are preformed using various machines and methods, including the traditional (or specialized) tattoo or coil machines, the pen or rotary machine and the non-machine or hand method.
These procedures are a process which includes the initial consultation, initial application of pigment, and usually one of two follow up visits for adjusting the shape and color or density of the pigment.
What types of permanent make up can be preformed?
- Eyebrows
- Eyeliner, top and bottom
- Eyelash enhancement
- Lip liner
- Full lip colour
- Scar camouflage
- Feature reconstruction
- Areola restoration
- Hair imitation
- Skin grafts
- Cleft/hare lip
- Beauty marks
How long does permanent make up last?
Gradual fading can be expected for all micro pigmentation procedures. This varies among individuals and is dependant on the specific shade used in the procedure. Most colors last 3-5 years although some may not fade for as long as 10 years. Periodic touch-ups are recommended to maintain the desired look. You can also desire to change colors of your permanent make up. For instance, a nude lip color can be modified to a peachy pink; or a brown liner to a black or navy blue.
Is any care required after permanent make up?
Some swelling and redness can be expected for 24 hours following the application of permanent make up. A cold compress helps to reduce any swelling around the eye area. The treated area must be kept clean. No make up should be applied for several days. Some skin peeling and lightening of the applied color is normal. Additional adjustments can be done at follow up appointment.
