Who is a candidate for breast reduction surgery?
Women who have very large and heavy breasts that create discomfort in their shoulders, neck and back, may be a candidate for a breast reduction surgery.

 

 

What is the earliest age a breast reduction procedure can be done?
Breast reduction surgery can be preformed in the teenage years, but it is highly recommended full breast development be completed. It is also recommended that the patient has reached a maturity level to understand the issues post procedure. These issues include the possibility of not being able to breast feed in the future.

What are the results of breast reduction surgery?
After breast reduction surgery your breasts will be more proportional to the rest of your body and your clothes will have a more flattering fit.

What technique does Dr. Marc DuPéré use for breast reduction surgery in Toronto, Richmond Hill and York Region?
Dr. Marc DuPéré uses the European technique known as Lejour Vertical Breast Reduction (Lollipop technique) . The Lejour Vertical technique, as opposed to the Anchor-style technique, has much less scarring and there is less possibility of numbness in the nipple area. The Anchor-style technique is used for a very large reduction.
Dr. Marc DuPéré includes cosmetic liposuction to contour and improve the shape of the breast.

 

 

Is breast reduction covered by OHIP?
All breast reduction procedures are submitted for OHIP coverage. Most applications are approved, however there may be a cosmetic portion that may not be covered.

How soon after the consultation for breast reduction surgery can the procedure be done?
Once the approval from Ohip is received, which usually takes about 3 – 4 weeks, the surgery can be scheduled fairly quickly. Dr. DuPéré’s surgeries take place in an accredited private surgical facility with board certified anesthetists and 2 registered nurses specializing in cosmetic surgery procedures.
